A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver. When updating display streams, the driver improperly handles phantom streams that have already been destroyed, triggering a null pointer dereference. A local attacker can trigger this issue during display power management operations, leading to a kernel crash and a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-24 17:12:51 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amd/display: Avoid DPMS-on for phantom stream

[Why & How]
Calling dc_update_planes_and_stream separately for stream and its
phantom stream causes a NULL pointer dereference, since the phantom is
destroyed on the first call.

Skip the call for phantom streams.
