A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's MultiPath TCP (MPTCP) subsystem. A race condition can occur between socket disconnection and packet retransmission timer handling, resulting in an inconsistent socket state. A local user can exploit this timing flaw during active connection teardown to cause a system crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-25 10:37:13 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

mptcp: prevent race between disconnect() and rtx

Sashiko noted that the two event can race, leading to inconsistent
status. Prevent the race using the synchronous timer stop operation.
