A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's XFS file system. An inverted unit conversion during transaction log space calculations causes the file system to improperly reserve log resources. An authenticated local attacker could exploit this vulnerability during file system operations to cause system instability, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-25 11:15:34 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

xfs: fix unit conversions in per_binval computation

LOLLM noticed that we're doing the unit conversion in the per_binval
computation backwards -- xfs_buf_inval_log_space's second parameter is
supposed to be in bytes, but max_binval is in units of fsblocks. Hence
the conversion should be FSB -> B, not the other way around.
