A flaw was found in Apache Directory LDAP API. When a client calls `loadSchema()` to search an LDAP server's subschema, a rogue or compromised server, or a network attacker able to intercept the connection before TLS is established, can return a crafted schema object containing a serialized Java class. Processing this response can trigger unsafe deserialization and may allow arbitrary code execution in the client application. Apache Directory LDAP API versions 2.1.0 through versions before 2.1.9 are affected; version 2.1.9 fixes the issue.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-02 10:21:43 UTC
Deserialization of Untrusted Data vulnerability in Apache Directory LDAP API.

A rogue/compromised LDAP server (or pre-TLS MITM) can answer a client's loadSchema() subschema search with a schema object that contains a serialized Java class, allowing some potential RCE.

This issue affects Apache Directory LDAP API: from 2.1.0 before 2.1.9.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.1.9, which fixes the issue.
