A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Cypress Generation 5 touchscreen (cyttsp5) driver. This vulnerability can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) due to memory corruption because the driver does not properly validate the size of incoming data reports before copying them into a fixed-size buffer. A physically present attacker connecting a crafted or compromised touchscreen device could supply an oversized report length, triggering a buffer overflow that causes a system crash.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-06 09:05:06 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

Input: cyttsp5 - clamp the HID report size before memcpy

The size field comes from the device and is used as the memcpy()
length into response_buf, which is CY_MAX_INPUT bytes.
