A flaw was found in ntfs-3g. This vulnerability allows an attacker to read sensitive data from process memory, resulting in information disclosure, by supplying a maliciously crafted NTFS filesystem image. When the system attempts to inspect a corrupted file within the image, an out-of-bounds read occurs in the filename processing logic.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-07 14:12:01 UTC
In NTFS-3G before 2026.7.7, a out-of-bounds read exists in ntfs_fix_file_name() in libntfs-3g/reparse.c that allows an attacker to read possibly confidential information in ntfs-3g process memory by crafting a malicious NTFS image. The out-of-bounds read is triggered by a readlink on a corrupted file.
