Doc Text:
A flaw was found in ImageMagick. The application does not properly validate symbolic links (shortcuts pointing to other files) during security policy authorization checks. A local attacker can exploit this vulnerability by creating a symbolic link that points to a restricted file path, allowing them to bypass configured security policy restrictions.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-12 13:29:00 UTC
ImageMagick before 6.9.13-58 and 7.x before 7.1.2-33 does not properly account for symbolic links in the IsRightsAuthorizedByName security policy check, allowing configured policy restrictions to be bypassed. Local attackers who can create a symlink can point it at a policy-restricted path to evade the configured policy.
