Doc Text:
A flaw was found in ImageMagick. A remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by providing specially crafted images for GIF conversion that cause color quantization to fail. Because allocated memory is not freed when this failure occurs, repeated processing requests continuously leak memory, degrading system performance and potentially causing the service to become unavailable.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-12 16:56:33 UTC
ImageMagick before 6.9.13-57 and 7.x before 7.1.2-32 contains a memory leak in the GIF encoder because allocated memory is not released when color quantization fails during encoding. Attackers can supply images whose GIF conversion causes quantization to fail, leaking memory with each attempt and degrading availability.
