A flaw was found in tinyexr. When processing multi-part image files, the library fails to properly track buffer boundaries during header parsing, leading to an out-of-bounds read. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user or system to open a specially crafted EXR file, causing the application to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS), or potentially disclosing sensitive heap memory.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-14 14:32:03 UTC
Tinyexr through 3.2.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in ParseEXRMultipartHeaderFromMemory() that allows attackers to read beyond buffers due to a stale remaining-size value. Attackers can supply a crafted multi-part EXR file whose later part headers bypass ReadAttribute() bounds checks, crashing applications or leaking adjacent heap memory into attribute values.
