A flaw was found in Mini-XML. In environments where the system locale does not use a period as the decimal separator, an attacker can supply a specially crafted XML file containing a long decimal number to trigger an off-by-one stack-based buffer overflow in the mxml_strtod() function. This issue can corrupt stack memory and crash the application, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-14 14:38:16 UTC
Mini-XML 4.0.0 through 4.0.6 contains an off-by-one stack out-of-bounds write in mxml_strtod() when the locale decimal point is not '.'. Attackers can supply XML with a 63-digit REAL value followed by '.' to write a NUL byte past the 64-byte stack buffer, corrupting stack memory or crashing the process.
