A flaw was found in nodemailer. A malicious Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server or an on-path network attacker can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by streaming response continuation lines without sending a completion line. Due to inefficient reply parsing, this behavior causes excessive processing and memory exhaustion, blocking the application's event loop and rendering the service unresponsive.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-14 23:02:30 UTC
Nodemailer from 3.0.0 before 10.0.10 contains a quadratic complexity denial of service vulnerability in the SMTP client reply parser in SMTPConnection._onData and isPartialResponse. A malicious SMTP server or on-path attacker can stream continuation lines without a completion line before authentication, blocking the Node.js event loop and exhausting memory.
