A flaw was found in libtimidity. The SoundFont loader fails to properly validate sample and instrument index values, leading to an out-of-bounds memory read. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted SoundFont (.sf2) audio file, causing the application to crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) or potential disclosure of heap memory contents.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-15 19:03:48 UTC
libTiMidity through 0.2.8 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the SoundFont loader in src/sndfont.c that uses unvalidated sampleId and instrument generator values as table indices. Attackers can supply a crafted .sf2 file loaded through mid_set_soundfont() to read heap memory out of bounds and crash the application.
