A flaw was found in AdPlug. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted XSM audio file to be processed by the application. Due to insufficient bounds checking when handling note data, playing the malicious file triggers an out-of-bounds read memory error. This issue can cause the application to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-15 19:27:18 UTC
AdPlug through 2.4 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in src/xsm.cpp that allows attackers to read before note_table by supplying a negative note index. Attackers can craft an XSM file with the ofTAZ! signature and a song byte of 0x80 or higher, causing a global-buffer-overflow read during playback that may crash affected applications.
