A flaw was found in libesedb. This vulnerability allows an attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) or access memory contents by tricking a user or application into processing a specially crafted Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) database file. Due to missing boundary checks on multi-value offset tables, the library reads past allocated memory buffers, leading to an application crash or information disclosure.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-15 19:35:19 UTC
Libyal libesedb through 20260704 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in libesedb_record_get_multi_value() that allows attackers to read past buffers via unbounded multi-value offset tables. Attackers can supply a crafted ESE/EDB database processed by esedbexport to crash the application or expose up to about 32 KiB of adjacent heap memory.
