A flaw was found in OpenSlide. By convincing a user or automated service to open a specially crafted MIRAX slide file, an attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds memory read in the format reader due to improper index validation. This vulnerability primarily results in an application crash, causing a Denial of Service (DoS), and may also lead to limited information disclosure.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-15 19:36:13 UTC
OpenSlide through 4.0.1 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the MIRAX reader that allows attackers to read past the slide_positions array via crafted Slidedat.ini values. Attackers can supply a MIRAX slide whose CameraImageDivisionsPerSide does not evenly divide the image counts, crashing applications that open it and corrupting tile geometry.
