Doc Text:
A flaw was found in libmodplug. This vulnerability allows an attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by crashing applications that rely on the library to process audio files. By enticing a user or automated system to load a specially crafted AMS (audio tracker) file, the decoder reads data past the end of the allocated memory buffer. This out-of-bounds read results in an immediate application crash and may disclose adjacent memory.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-15 21:51:40 UTC
libmodplug through 0.8.9.1 contains a heap-based out-of-bounds read vulnerability in CSoundFile::ReadAMS2() in src/load_ams.cpp that allows attackers to read adjacent heap memory via crafted AMS files. Attackers can supply an AMS module whose pattern effect bytes keep bit 7 set, driving the decoder past the input buffer and crashing any libmodplug consumer.
