A flaw was found in OW2 ASM. An attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by supplying a specially crafted Java class file with methods that grow beyond 64 kilobytes during transformation. When processing this file, an offset truncation error triggers an infinite loop within the method resolution logic, causing the application reading or analyzing the class file to hang indefinitely.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-18 12:41:20 UTC
OW2 ASM 9.11 before 9.11.1 contains an infinite loop vulnerability in Label.resolve() caused by 16-bit forward-reference offsets truncating when rewritten methods exceed 64 KB. Attackers can supply crafted class files whose transformed code grows past 65535 bytes, hanging ClassReader.accept() and denying service to build tools, instrumenters, agents, or analyzers.
