A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Analog Devices AD4030 Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) driver. The driver calculates a mathematical logarithm on an averaging parameter prior to validating whether the input is positive. A local user with access to configure the device could provide a non-positive value, triggering undefined behavior that may lead to a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-18 15:53:13 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

iio: adc: ad4030: fix invalid oversampling_ratio validation

In ad4030_set_avg_frame_len(), the logarithm is calculated before input
validation. Passing zero or negative values leads to an undefined result
from ilog2().

Validate that the input is strictly positive prior to computing its
logarithm.
