Doc Text:
A flaw was found in configobj. A remote attacker can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by supplying specially crafted configuration input to be parsed by the application. Due to inefficient regular expression evaluation in the _sectionmarker function, processing this input causes excessive CPU consumption and application unresponsiveness.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-19 20:52:51 UTC
A vulnerability was identified in DiffSK configobj up to 5.0.9. Affected by this vulnerability is the function _sectionmarker of the file configobj/__init__.py. The manipulation leads to inefficient regular expression complexity. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
