A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's network bonding driver. This vulnerability can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) caused by kernel memory exhaustion when updating network filters. Because the driver fails to release the reference to an existing eXpress Data Path (XDP) program when a new program is attached, a local privileged user can repeatedly replace programs to leak memory and exhaust system resources.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-23 12:46:24 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

bonding: fix the program leak when XDP is replaced

We need to release the reference on the old BPF prog, whether
we are going to no-prog, or replacing the prog with another.

Spotted by AI while running tests for the propagation series
(leaked programs were accumulating). Selftest will come in
the net-next series to avoid conflicts.
