A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's VMware Virtual GPU (vmwgfx) driver. A local user could exploit this flaw to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) or disclose sensitive memory contents through an out-of-bounds read. The vulnerability occurs because the driver fails to validate the pitch value provided by userspace alongside box dimensions before copying surface data during cursor snooping operations.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-23 13:51:41 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/vmwgfx: validate pitch coming from userspace

Validate the pitch, alongside the box dimensions before trying
to copy data from the underlying surface. Fixes possible
out of bounds reads with cursor snooping.
