Doc Text:
The eMudha certificate authority issues a set of intermediate CA certificates with weak private keys. A man-in-the-middle attacker could use these weak intermediate CA certificates to issue certificates for arbitrary host names and have them accepted by TLS/SSL clients as valid if those clients trusted root certificate authorities which signed these weak intermediate CA certificates. The Python ssl module was modified to reject these weak intermediate CA certificates regardless of whether issues root CAs are trusted.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-24 14:31:20 UTC
Python has added a denylist for known compromised certificates to the "ssl" module to ensure user safety even without certificate revocation configured. Known compromised certificates will automatically be rejected regardless of the SSLContext policy configuration.
