A flaw was found in vLLM. A remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending a specially crafted request containing an inline video that bypasses frame-count limits. By overriding media decoding parameters, the attacker forces the service to decode every frame of an oversized video payload without restriction. This excessive resource allocation consumes available system memory and can crash the application programming interface (API) server.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-25 13:35:01 UTC
vLLM from 0.18.0 before 0.31.0 contains a resource exhaustion vulnerability that allows API clients to bypass the video/jpeg frame-count cap by overriding num_frames through media_io_kwargs. Attackers can set num_frames to -1 with a large inline video so VideoMediaIO.load_base64 decodes every frame, exhausting memory and crashing the API frontend.
