Doc Text:
A flaw was found in Wasmtime. This vulnerability allows an attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by crashing the host application embedding the runtime. By supplying a crafted WebAssembly component whose start function executes an asynchronous call followed by a thread yield, the runtime fails to properly handle undisposed execution fibers (lightweight execution threads), triggering an internal panic. Consequently, the host process terminates unexpectedly, disrupting service availability.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-10-29 17:24:40 UTC
Wasmtime 46.0.0 before 48.0.6 and 49.0.0 before 49.0.3 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows malicious components to panic the host via thread.yield in start functions. Attackers can supply a component whose start function calls an async-lowered import then thread.yield, causing an undisposed fiber drop that crashes embedders.
