A flaw was found in buku. Improper sanitization of bookmark URLs in the bukuserver web interface leads to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can submit a bookmark containing malicious code through the API endpoint. When an affected user views the bookmark list, the injected script executes in their browser, allowing the attacker to perform unauthorized actions using the victim's credentials.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-11-03 19:55:48 UTC
buku 5.0 through 5.1.1 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the bukuserver bookmark list that allows attackers to execute script via an unescaped bookmark URL in BookmarkModelView._list_entry(). Attackers can submit a URL containing a double quote and event handler through the unauthenticated /api/bookmarks endpoint to issue same-origin API requests with viewers' credentials.
