A flaw was found in Kyverno. This vulnerability allows an authorized user with policy creation permissions to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by submitting Common Expression Language (CEL) expressions that are evaluated without runtime computational limits. By creating policies with resource-intensive expressions evaluated against large data fields, an attacker can exhaust system CPU and memory. This exhaustion causes Kyverno controller pods to crash, disrupting admission control and preventing new workloads from being processed across the cluster.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-11-05 22:23:02 UTC
Kyverno before 1.19.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows namespace-scoped policy authors to exhaust CPU and memory by submitting CEL expressions evaluated without runtime cost limits. Attackers can create a NamespacedValidatingPolicy or NamespacedDeletingPolicy with nested map comprehensions over large ConfigMap fields to OOM-kill Kyverno pods and block cluster-wide admission.
