A flaw was found in hickory-dns. An attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by supplying an untrusted DNS zone file containing malformed Service Binding (SVCB) or HTTPS records where an isolated quotation mark replaces an expected parameter value. Processing this malformed input triggers an unhandled crash in the parser, halting the DNS service.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-11-08 02:00:24 UTC
hickory-dns from 0.20.1 before 0.26.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the hickory-proto SVCB and HTTPS record presentation format parser. Attackers can supply untrusted zone files where only a single or double quote replaces a service parameter value, triggering a panic that crashes the parsing process.
