Doc Text:
A flaw was found in Hickory DNS. The recursive resolver fails to verify that records returned in negative responses originate from the authoritative domain. A remote attacker able to supply crafted negative responses can exploit this issue to inject unauthorized records, leading to Domain Name System (DNS) cache poisoning. This failure can also facilitate the exploitation of Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) verification flaws.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-11-08 02:02:07 UTC
The recursive resolver in Hickory DNS hickory-recursor 0.25.0 through 0.25.2 and hickory-resolver 0.26.0 before 0.26.2 does not apply out-of-bailiwick filtering to negative responses. Attackers able to supply crafted negative responses can include out-of-bailiwick records to facilitate cache poisoning and more easily exploit other DNSSEC verification flaws.
