A flaw was found in hickory-server. This vulnerability allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by exhausting server resources. The DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ) server fails to apply a timeout when reading incoming request streams, bypassing configured timeout settings. An attacker can exploit this flaw by establishing a connection and holding the request stream open indefinitely.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-11-08 02:06:17 UTC
The DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ) server in hickory-server (hickory-dns) before 0.26.2 does not apply any timeout when reading a request message from a QUIC stream, bypassing all configured timeouts. A remote unauthenticated client can open a connection and a request stream and hold it open indefinitely, consuming server resources and causing a denial of service.
