Description bob bownes 2007-08-31 18:23:05 UTC
somewhere between RHEL3 update 8 and RHEL4 update 4, sar lost the -p (pretty
print) flag. This breaks a number of scripts and is hampering efforts to move
from 3_8 to 4_4 or later.

Can we get it back?

from the 3 update 8 man page:

-p Pretty-print device names. By default names are printed as
devn-m where n and m are the major and minor numbers for the
device. Use of this option displays the names of the devices as
they (should) appear in /dev. Name mappings are controlled by
              /etc/sysconfig/sysstat.ioconf.
