This is strange...

$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gnome/_gnome.so
gnome-python2-2.18.1-1.fc7

$ python
Python 2.5 (r25:51908, Apr 10 2007, 10:29:13)
[GCC 4.1.2 20070403 (Red Hat 4.1.2-8)] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import gnome
>>>

no error...

Do you have gnome-python2 installed???

Comment 2 scott 2007-09-08 03:19:40 UTC
I get no such file or directory for the rpm command.
I get ImportError: Module named gnome when entered in the python prompt for
import gnome.

Looks like no gnome-python2 installed by default? should this have been
installed by default on a clean install?

Comment 3 Harald Hoyer 2007-09-10 08:02:56 UTC
s-c-network explicitly Requires gnome-python2. So yes, it should have been
installed by default.

I installed additional python components to get all the gnome python libraries
and it fixed the problem.

This looks like a bug in the default install. I would recommend we move this
bug to the group responsible for fedora install. I would be willing to work
through the issue with them.
