Description Mamoru TASAKA 2007-10-16 06:05:54 UTC
Description of problem:
Well, today when I relogined to GNOME session, I noticed
that GNOME clock is always ahead of the correct time by
one hour. Then I checked tzselect info. Then:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
glibc-2.6.90-21

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. check tzselect data on Japan
2.
3.

Actual results:

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.6.90-21
[root@localhost ~]# tzselect

#? 19

The following information has been given:

        Japan

Therefore TZ='Asia/Tokyo' will be used.
Local time is now: Tue Oct 16 15:45:27 JDT 2007.
Universal Time is now: Tue Oct 16 05:45:27 UTC 2007.
Is the above information OK?
1) Yes
2) No
#? 1

You can make this change permanent for yourself by appending the line
        TZ='Asia/Tokyo'; export TZ
to the file '.profile' in your home directory; then log out and log in again.

Here is that TZ value again, this time on standard output so that you
can use the /usr//bin/tzselect command in shell scripts:
Asia/Tokyo

Expected results:
Timezone of Japan must be JST, not JDT

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.6.90-18
[root@localhost ~]# tzselect

I have not checked -19 and -20.

Comment 2 Jens Petersen 2007-10-17 05:06:52 UTC
This seems to affect AEST (Queensland, Australia) too for example
where there is also no Summertime.

Comment 3 Mamoru TASAKA 2007-10-18 06:06:14 UTC
glibc 2.7-1 seems good for TZ='Asia/Tokyo'.
