Description Arenas Belon, Carlo Marcelo 2001-04-05 08:43:50 UTC
taken into consideration that is included on the default kernel, and that
can be compiled as a runtime module, i don't see why don't include such a
usefull feature.

the kernel needs a patch to get (on 2.4.3 ther is 0.9.1_beta2) from the old
driver to the latest (stabler) one 0.9.1_beta6 i am attaching the patch
(applied on kernel 2.4.2-0.1.40 on patch130, without any problem)

also the lvm binaries would be needed, i am uploading a "redhified" SPEC
that could be used to build the lvm usertools package.

all the packages are on use an available from
http://www.sajinet.com.pe/rhbeta/ using the beta user and password.

Comment 3 Arjan van de Ven 2001-04-05 13:27:57 UTC
The old and new LVM have different on-disk layouts. This means that until Linus
accepts the new layout, this is not a supportable option for us. (remember raid
in 2.2 :)

Also the "current" LVM is indeed very broken, so we cannot enable current LVM
for that reason. However, if Linus takes the updated LVM, we will ship with that
enabled in an errata kernel if/when we make one for other reasons anyway.

For this reason, I close this bug as 'deferred', eg we'll come back to it later.
