As opposed to globally deleting or globally keeping lilo.conf backups,
perhaps an option would be best.  For example, if I've got a few hundred
machines in labs, I generally won't care about preserving the backup but on
personal boxes I will.  Gives a nice compromise between the two sides I
would say
