I'm also seeing this in F9 beta, with gnome-panel-2.22.0-8. My panel is on the right and not autohidden. I can't reliably reproduce this behavior, though it seems to happen when the window list gets to a certain size. (There's still plenty of room in my panel for it to grow, though; maybe when it gets to about half the available size.) This message is a reminder that Fedora 8 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 8. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '8'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 8's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 8 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 8 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-01-07. Fedora 8 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. I still see this bug with Fedora 10 and gnome-panel-2.24.2-1.fc10.x86_64, but I don't know how to reopen it against F10. Same symptoms: When there are too many items in my vertical panel, the window list bounces back and forth between one and two columns. When I move the pointer over the window list, it goes to two columns; when I move it over any other window, it's one column. It's also difficult to click on an item in the list because that causes the columns to shift, too. I see this bug with Fedora 10 (system update 10 Feb 2009) Window List 2.24.3. Same symptoms: When I open the 9th window, the window list bounces back and forth between one and two columns even though there is more room in the panel for the list to expand (so fast its difficult to see exactly what is going on - it looks like some sort of weird animation). When I move the pointer over the window list it just keeps going, making it unusable. Closing windows does not fix it. However, if close the 9th window and then left click on it and move it, the animation goes away; if I don't close a window and move it it stays animated. New AND Improved ;^) Same problem here. When I have more than about 7 windows it goes into two columns despite there being plenty more space, and when I try to click on a window it goes back and forth between one and two columns. Depending on the window in focus, it may stay in one column but still flips back and forth to two columns when I try to click. This makes the side panel almost completely useless.
