When attempting upgrade to 7.1 from 7.0 as per online instructions
(http://www.redhat.com/download/howto_download.html) using rpm files saved
to the hard disk the installer program looks for CD (iso9660) images
despite having selected the install from hard disk option in previous
screen.

When the path and drive for the rpms is supplied a window appears saying
"Device /dev/hda5 does not appear to contain RedHat CDROM images". This
is, of course, correct, but it shouldn't be looking for CD images.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. follow instructions under
http://www.redhat.com/download/howto_download.html to create /dosd/RedHat
/dosd/RedHat/base /dosd/RedHat/RPMS directories
2. use ftp to get files from ftp.esat.net
(/.1/ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/7.1/en/os/i386/RedHat)
3. from same source get
/.1/ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/7.1/en/os/i386/images/boot.img
4. use dd to make installer disk and, with installer disk in drive, reboot
5. select language = english, keyboard = uk, install from CD or hard disk =
hard disk
6. In "select partition" window give /dev/hda5 and RedHat as input

Actual Results: "Select Partition" Window appears with text...

"What partition and directory on that partition hold the CD (iso9660)
images for RedHat Linux?"

This shouldn't appear as CD images are not required but when the location
of the install directory (/dosd/RedHat) is given another window appears
with...

"Device /dev/hda5 does not appear to contain RedHat CDROM images"

Expected Results: A similar window to the Select Partition window should
ask where the install directory is and then installation (upgrade) should
proceed as normal.

The information on the web site is incorrect. It used to be, but it's not
anymore. We have changed hard drive installs to use ISO images. Take a look at
bug #18019 for more info on the problems people had doing the old style hard
drive install. I will notify the correct people about changing the
documentation on the web site. Thanks for your report.
