Description Jim Waldram 2007-11-17 00:02:08 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6

Description of problem:
November 15 patch samba-3.0.25b-1.el4_6.2 caused the valid users configuration option to stop working. Errors returned to smbclient error NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. Commenting out the valid users configurations result in good connect. Use of write list and read list work around the problem, I think. This extends to Windows PCs access to the disk shares with valid users configuration used.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
samba-3.0.25b-1.el4_6.2

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.use "valid users" options in /etc/samba/smb.conf
2.smbclient to disk share using valid users
3.error

Actual Results:
 NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE or similar

Expected Results:
smbclient access works

This is expected and explained in the release notes,
The user and group names must be fully qualified now.
valid users = user will not work
valid users = DOMAIN\user will
