Bill, can you have a look into this? I'm Alphaless.. I'll look at the code though and see if there is anything obvious. I have isolated the code that displays the prompt. Unfortunately, I cannot determine from merely looking at the code what is wrong with it that it would display as you describe. I have no 64 bit hardware with which to test/see/debug this though, although I bet that it is just a simple 64bit ism. Bill, can you test this on ia64 also and see if it is doing so there as well? It would be nice to know if it is Alpha specific or 64bit specific. Then I can send it to Jay Estabrook to look into perhaps. The code in question after an "rpm -bp XFree86.spec" is located in: xc/programs/xdm/greeter/Login.c I'll try and check on ia64, but I need to switch video cards first. ;) Bill, did you have a chance to look at this? It is still occuring on the Alpha with the latest XFree86-xdm-4.0.3-17. It is not a showstopper but does not look nice. I don't see anything wrong with the release candidate.. resolved I think Phil =--= SO you are saying that you were did not see the formatting issue on a different Alpha? I admit that I have not have time to check different Alpha's to see if this a single machine incidence. If you want to see the problem I am talking about come and see me and I will show you the offending machine. This is with the current builds I have made Hmm, tested it on a G200 with same packages and everything looks fine. Chalking it up to video chipset issue. |
