Description of problem:
Sound is setup in the System->Administration->logon Screen to enable sound when
boot is complete, and a second sound when the password or user id is in error. 
It does not work. After relogging correctly and revalidating the settings, we
see that the sound setting has been set to NONE for the logon screen. Initial
setting was startup.wav file.  Simiarly, sound to indicate successful logon does
not play.

Resetting the values in the above mentioned session and testing before logging
out, shows all sounds working as assigned. However, logout, relog with forced
error, or no error, and sound has been disabled from the logon-window.

Is it possible that Gnome uses pulse audio, and that pulse audio is only started
after the user has successfully logged in?


Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
My version is f8_64bit. All other sound works just fine, except for microphone.
But I am tackling the above indicated problem here.

Newer gdm now starts PA properly.
