Additional info:
I get a freeze even if I digit about:plugins

Comment 1 antonio montagnani 2008-01-06 10:51:57 UTC
is it related to bug 427621, as I don't have any directory in
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9b2pre (apart from an empty SDK)????
How shall I solve it???

Comment 2 Martin Stransky 2008-01-07 14:28:26 UTC
please try to install the latest xulrunner package.

Comment 3 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 14:56:29 UTC
xulrunner-1.9-0.beta2.6.fc9 was already installed during my tests.
Some improvements today after latest general updates (I assume some Gtk package
was updated..), but still I am not happy

Comment 4 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 15:02:12 UTC
for example after my latest comment I tried to go to www.redhat.com, I see the
blu bar on the far right/low of Firefox increasing, but the page is not loaded
(apart from the title on the bar) and afterward Firefox freezes.(The only way to
close it is by clicking on the red X and get the answer that application is not
responding!!! and also other applications (at least the graphic part) are frozen
until Firefox is killed

Comment 5 Matěj Cepl 2008-01-07 16:52:52 UTC
It's xulrunner 1.9-0.beta2.6.fc9 already here. Could you please upgrade and test
again whether you can reporduce it, please? I cannot, and unless I will get some
hints how to reproduce this, I will have to close this bug as WORKSFORME.

Comment 6 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 17:12:41 UTC
please see comments #3 and #4. xulrunner has been already updated, and I can
reproduce going by a bugzilla.redhat.com page to www.redhat.com.

I note that on other system yumex doesn't upgrade to Firefox 3, it is not simply
available...any particular reason???

some examples:

www.mozilla.org is o.k.
www.redhat.com freezes FF (blue line at 90%)
www.quattroruote.it freezes FF
www.info412.it is partially loaded and freezes FF
www.virgilio.it is partially loaded and then freezes FF
www.regione.vda.it is o.k. (not always...)

and when I say freeze I mean if I jump to another application and back to FF I
see only the header line of FF and the desktop. Then I have to kill FF.

Please note that I have installed some plugins (standard, as most users have)
I doubt that it is a network issue as all other applications on the Net are
working fine, and also that is a DNS issue as otherwise FF should not work at all.

Comment 8 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 18:01:12 UTC
and for example, if I start FF3 and I digit about:config it works, then I digit
about:plugins and FF freezes, so this confirms that there is no network problem!!!

Comment 9 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 21:03:52 UTC
I updated my main system (the gateway I mean) and it works.
Then I connected the laptop directly to the modem and fired FF, and it still
doesn't work.

I am using intel as video driver on the laptop if it can help, nv on the Gateway

Comment 10 antonio montagnani 2008-01-07 21:15:13 UTC
I disinstalled FF and xulrunner and then reinstalled them: no luck.
How can I debug this problem???

Comment 11 Martin Stransky 2008-01-08 08:30:51 UTC
Can you try to shut down all network devices (e.g. "ifdown eth0" for eth0) and
try the about:plugins page again? I wonder if it's a network related...

Comment 12 antonio montagnani 2008-01-08 22:06:45 UTC
I made two other complete installations and I didn't experience any problem.
Sorry to say that I wiped out the installation with problems, as I needed a
working computer for my work....and I had no time to further investigation.
Strange to say that all installation have similar setup.
So I assume that this bug is complete for me.
Tnx to all

Comment 13 Martin Stransky 2008-01-11 10:23:32 UTC
okay, closing.
