Have you already tried to build it (in mock or otherwise), and tested it somewhat? I have have updated the package to the newest version. I haven't yet updated the patch yet. Maybe this should be passed on to upstream, so they can implement a configure flag to choose between bundled and system library. Changing version to '9' as part of upcoming Fedora 9 GA.
