Description Neil Horman 2008-02-19 00:10:05 UTC
Description of problem:
dmsetup.static appears to be removed from rawhide. That utility (specifically
as a static utility is required for kdump to build a functional initramfs for
many/most systems). Please return it to use, or split it in to a
device-mapper-static package, as kdump will not function without it.

Thanks!

All the static binaries were removed as I understood it was no longer policy to
include them. I checked package dependencies and no kdump dependency showed up.

Can you not change kdump to cope without it?

Comment 2 Neil Horman 2008-02-19 03:09:41 UTC
kdumps dependency is likely on the package, not the specific binary, althrough
it appears it should be.

I'd be happy to entertain ideas about coping without dmsetup.static, but I don't
see how I can do without it, given that I don't have space to include all of
glibc in my initramfs. If you have other thoughts, I'd happily listen to them.
