Description Stewart Adam 2008-02-22 17:47:44 UTC
Description of problem:
tracker-applet is contained in the tracker package, however the preferences are
contained in the tracker-search-tool package. The applet will load, but
selecting "Preferences" from it's drop-down menu returns:
** (tracker-applet:29946): WARNING **: Unable to execute command:
tracker-preferences

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
tracker-0.6.4-6.fc9.x86_64
tracker-search-tool-0.6.4-6.fc9.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install tracker
2. Start tracker-applet
3. Right-click the applet and select Preferences

Actual results:
Nothing shows up, terminal output is shown above

Expected results:
tracker requires tracker-search-tool so the preferences tool is not missing

Additional info:
I think it would be more suitable to place the preferences in the tracker
package and the applet in the tracker-search-tool package.

Indeed there is an issue that needs fixing here, by packing the tracker-applet
binary in tracker-search-tool subpackage. But, I believe you are seeing this
problem because you are manually starting tracker-applet. In a standard
installation, the applet is loaded on login by a desktop file that ships with
the tracker-search-tool.
Fixed in rawhide.
