Description of problem:
In order to "activate" the "EXPORT_UNUSED_SYMBOL(init_mm)" included in patch,
CONFIG_USED_SYMBOLS needs to be set.

Without this, patch is moot .....

Done.  But please make sure whatever module is using this knows that it's going
away soon.
