Description of problem:

During debugging  pppd[xxx]: Protocol-Reject for unsupported protocol ... I
found that the snmpd never updates ifInError of ppp interface, except on snmpd
restart.

net-snmp-5.4.1-5.fc8
(but applies to net-snmp-5.3.1-19.el5_1.4)

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. High load on ppp interface (PPPoE) causes some errors
2. mrtg never shows me error
  
Actual results:

Expected results:

ifInError would be updated

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red
Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release.  Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products.  This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.
