Description roskam 1999-08-06 16:58:18 UTC
I have noticed that the file manager and gnome rpm will not
initialize after being clicked on. The harddrive light
will start like the application is loading but then nothing
happens. This still happens after loading the current
errata for gnome.

Here is a question. Have you changed the hostname on the machine, but
yet are not connected to a network? CORBA has to be able to perform
reverse name lookups in order to launch applications, so if it is not
able to perform this lookup, it tends to act as you have described.
If this is the case, then just edit your /etc/hosts file and mimic the
entry that should be there for localhost . . . so you would have
127.0.0.1 <hostname of machine>

Save the file and you should be all set. Respond if this is not the
case.
