actually only mail component is affected, when I start evolution with -c
calendar option, it starts normally, then when I try to switch to email, it crashes.

happy to supply more information. Evolution version is the latest one from
fedora.updates repo.

Kind of sounds like something got hosed with your gtk2 package.  GdkPixbuf has
always been capable of loading XPM images.  I don't think Evolution was the
problem here.

Sure, after fresh install and updates problem is solved.

(I know, that's a ugly windows-like behaviour but I had to get access to my
email as quickly as possible)
