Xorg.0.log shows that vesa driver does not support mode "1440x900"
The vesa driver doesn't do arbitary modes it is at the mercy of your BIOS so nothing we can do to make it support modes your BIOS doesn't support. you should use the nv driver. from log: (II) VESA(0): Not using mode "1440x900" (no mode of this name) (--) VESA(0): Virtual size is 1024x768 (pitch 1024) ------------- 1440x900 is common in new laptops (Apr 08) Video defaults to 1024x768 I'd like to use the nv driver but it doesn't support the GeForce 7150M that is in my new HP laptop, so I'm stuck with using the vesa driver. I just opened a bug on the nv driver. I'd sure like to use Fedora on this new laptop using it's native resolution of 1440x900 The BIOS DOES support 1440x900 -- Windows Vista runs great -- wish Fedora would too at 1440x900. You need a real device driver. Guess what? Windows Vista has a real device driver. just in case you missed it the first time : the BIOS DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS MODE. I've asked nvidia when nv will support that chipset, they haven't replied to me yet. |
