Description of problem: Unhandled Exception while installing Fedora 9 from DVD

This refers to Bug 447081, Bug 447037 and Bug 446762 which are marked as duplicates.

The issue I faced has been resolved; this is a report sent in the hope that it
may give clues to solving the Bugs reported earlier and not yet resolved.

This what I did:

1. Downloaded Fedora 9 DVD via Bittorrent. Checked Sha1sum, found ok.

2. Took DVD to target system, where an empty partition existed (alongwith two
NTFS partitions and Windows XP).

3. Checked Media, no problems reported; However, the installer enetered a loop
on the question of wanting to check more media,and even though I had selected to
not check more media, kept reporting media problem. Solution: Reboot from DVD.

4. Used the default options of using empty space for Linux, viewed the
partitionng scheme, found ok.

5. Selected KDE and some more components. Started installation.

6. After some 600+ packages were installed (out of 1000+) anaconada reported
Unhandled Exception. The option to save to disk was greyed out. I could not have
used save to net option.

7. Retried installation, this time with default slections (ie no KDE and
additional packages either).

8. Unhandled exception again, but at a different point of installation process
(600+ in 933 packeges to be installed); no option to save data.

9. Tried twice more, again Unhandled Exception at different places (once 100+ in
933 pacakeges to be installed); no option to save data.

Gave up for the day.

Later, changed the DVD drive on the target system with another (but not the one
on which the DVD was burnt).

11. Instatlation successful on first attempt.

Comments:

Even though the DVD drive could read the data properly when checked, it perhaps
could not provide data fast enough during installation. This kind of behaviour I
have seen elsewhere, too; some DVDs do not seem to work with some drives.
However, I do not have enough data to conclude anything.

As for the quality of the DVD blank, I have used nearly 80 more of the same kind
and never faced any problem, on any drive.
