This sounds much as if you have played with /etc/lilo.conf after the "successful
fresh installation". Can you get into the system via rescue mode and re-write LILO?
LIL- The descriptor table is corrupt. This can either be caused by a geometry
mismatch or by moving /boot/map without running the map installer.
Yes, I did go into rescue mode, even though I hadn't edited lilo.conf, but it didn't work. I checked the BIOS for the geometry, and it matched what LILO was using (I tried to invert the HD order to make sure). I've then given up and installed LILO in the MBR, where it's working fine... Great, glad you got it working |
